What not to eat

An old blog from 3 yrs ago..reposted at a friend's request:

When you're feeling sick and you need some soup don't reach for Amy's organic....

These soups are not for people who aren't feeling well and need something gentle on the stomach...no, these soups are for vegans and vegetarians who want a filling, highly flavourful meal from a can of soup. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but when you want something soothing, you better reach for Campbells.
I went to Whole Foods a couple weeks ago and got some soups to keep around. I chose to get a bunch of Amy's Organic soups because...they're organic. I took the chicken noodle soup to work only to notice it was not chicken noodle soup it was NO CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP! What the mess? Seriously? As I stopped dead in my tracks after getting off the elevator, a co-worker comes by and says "mmm, that soup is the best,(of course she's vegan) but be careful there are a lot of onions!"
I chose not to eat the soup that day, electing to go next door to Longs drugs for the Campbells version WITH chicken. I brought my whole foods soups home for use later...
Well, tonight was my later. I elected to cook some chicken to go with the NO CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP. (Yes, I have to use all caps, because it just isn't right) I didn't put spices on the chicken because I wanted it to be kind of bland and soothing to my stomach, and I figured it would pick up flavour from Amy's soup. I broiled the chicken, cut it up and then opened Amy's NO CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP...as I pour it out I notice very small noodles and then plop! A whole lotta onions..really, like a whole cut up onion was at the bottom of that can. I would like to mention that the can has a picture of soup that looks like chicken noodle soup, with little floating chicken pieces...however those floating pieces must be onions.. Seconds after lighting the fire the smell permeated my home..the fan tried in vain as the stench continued to float upstairs...I went to my room and sure enough, the pungent smell of onions was present. It was so bad I had to turn on the air conditioning. The soup should've been called ONION noodle soup. So I decide I can't even eat the soup because my stomach's rolling from the smell. I think to myself, "oh I'll eat it tomorrow for lunch...wait, WHAT??! No way, the onions would be worse!" So I take out the chicken chunks and dispose of Amy's overly flavoured NO CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP, which by the way barely had any broth and God forbid we add water to it since the can said in caps DO NOT ADD WATER.
I then proceed to open Amy's minestrone soup. No, this soup has no clever name, but again, I was expecting some noodles and vegetables. Nope, not Amy..she threw in some kidney beans and onions and peppers...nice and spicy...I can't tell you how great it tasted with onion flavoured chicken chunks :o(  I only ate about a cup full because I was too tired to cook anything else, but I had to eat something, because I haven't had any protein since the bite I had before I discovered the hair in my scrambled eggs from Bob's Big Boy.
So, the moral of the story...if you're not feeling well, bland is best and Amy's soups may not feel so organic in your stomach.

I know, I know

I haven't been posting, I know. Thank you for asking me about it. Of course, funny things are still happening to me everyday. REALLY funny things, but there are multiple answers to why I haven't been posting. Let's go with the most cliche first.
1. I've been so busy.
Yes this is true, but if really wanted to I would make time to post just like I make time to relax and get my nails done and balance my checkbook and, oh wait...
2. I can't share some of the funny stuff.
Sometimes something hilarious happens, but I can't share it. Wouldn't be too great of a post if I said "Laughed so hard today at something I can't tell you about." Now would it?
3. I'm having a rough go.
This means, keep me in your prayers.

I will try to do better with posting the funny stuff..truly I will, and I might even throw in some poignant bits here and there. Until then, hugs and kisses!!

Doughboys French Toast - A no go!

Okay, so I'm a bit behind...5 weeks to be exact. Forgive me...to all those I said "I'll update it tomorrow" weeks ago...um, sorry.

Anywho, let this picture be a warning to you all. Do not order the special French Toast at Doughboys. Just. Don't.

Those pieces of bread just tasted like bread and between each layer is ricotta cheese. On top - cranberries and granola. YUCK. I was forcefully recommended to order this instead of the almond encrusted french toast. :(  After we all had a taste we wrote our review with cranberries. See below

'Nuff Said.

7 Things to be Thankful For

This morning I started the day thinking of 7 things to be thankful for:

1. My Life - Thank you God for the ability to get up out of bed and walk around and sing and live.
2. Horseback Riding - something I love and miss - got to ride today for the first time in a while.
3. Eternal Life - Thankful to know where I'm going! Jesus is amazing.
4. My Parents - A friend remarked yesterday how great it was that I got along with my parents so well. He said it definitely wasn't that way for everyone. I never really thought about it, but it's so amazing to be able to come home for a week and get along and have fun with my parents. Yesterday after church my dad started singing some crazy song "Oh dey, yum, de come dey.." then I started singing "She'll be comin' round the mountain" and all 3 of us sang several choruses before we erupted in laughter. And, they sat through Return to Oz with me, something several of my so called friends won't do. (hmph)...that's love.
5. The Holy Spirit - If I ask Him to give me peace, comfort, wisdom, direction - He does. It's incredible.
6. Duke - my parents dog. Now, I'm not a huge dog lover, but who can resist a sweet pet who just wants to love. I've enjoyed his company.
7. Thankful no one has asked to see my papers while in AZ. Enough Said.

Always a woman...and a wasp

Watch this ad Always a woman

I really enjoyed this. Kinda made me think of how quickly life goes by and how we should make the most of every day and not sweat the small stuff. And for a single girl like me who often wants to move on to the next season of life - marriage - it's made me realize that season will be here before I know it, so I should enjoy my life now.

I also loved the interracial couple at the end. That's the world I live in and it was nice to see that reflected in an ad.

On another note, a wasp just appeared upstairs in my parents house in Arizona. For the past two weeks I've had a wasp come into my bathroom at my apartment in LA. Now there's a wasp here? Common denominator? Sweet Pea body wash from Bath & Body works. Last time I lather up with that!

Comedy.

Blog Widget! Oh Yeah!

So, I've been finding and trying out widgets for my mac today and I just found this one! Basically, I can blog very quickly, press a button and it's posts! How easy. Hopefully this will allow me to blog with more frequency.

I was asked about a month ago if I still blogged. I was shocked and answered something along the lines of "yes, definitely!" Unfortunately, when I looked at my blog, I realized it had been a while, so, I shall endeavor to do a little better!
